Arctis 7 headphones are considered among the best for gaming. They have excellent audio, outstanding built quality, and a pleasant design. If you’re looking for a premium gaming headset, then the arctis 7 should be at the top of your list!
In this blog post, we will take a closer look at the features that make these headphones so great. We’ll also compare them against some of the other popular gaming headphones including other Arctis modes and the Logitech G Pro X.
So if you’re ready, let’s get started!
Steelseries Arctis 7 headphones
Have you ever used a gaming headset with a cable?
If the cable is positioned on either side of the ear cup, it cannot be pleasant because it always gets in the way. The headset might also make noise when the wire rubs against your shirt. This can be irritating because you can hear it in your earcups. Some headphones have a dual wire coming out of each ear cup, which is also unpleasant.
A wireless pair gives you convenience and freedom of movement, like the Arctis 7 wireless gaming headsets. It is one of the best wireless gaming headsets, and its price is in line with its major competitors like Logitech and Razer. However, the Voidpro from Corsair is cheaper.
Most of the other models have RGB lighting in the Steelseries family. Still, the Arctis 7 headphones lack this feature, which is good for battery life.
The headset has a sturdy structure with the good built quality
The overall structure of the headset is sturdy. The plastic ear cups feel pleasant due to the rubber coating. The headband is metal, unlike the plastic material used in various other Arctis models. The swivel joints feel a little loose. However, there is no squeaking sound when firmly shaking them, so there is nothing to worry about.
The self-adjusting fabric on the headset is changeable and stretchable. This is a cool customization element. You can change it to the color that you fancy.
Comfortable design for medium and small head sizes
The earcup cushions feel nice to touch and have a soft center. However, they are not thick enough to make up for the hard plastic housing of the driver. The Arctis 7 headsets carry a bit more weight than the Steelseries Arctis 5 and Arctis 3 because there is a battery in the ear cups. The manufacturer has not done any structural changes to make it more comfortable.
The headband can be adjusted to fit small and medium-sized heads. If you have a large head, your ears may touch the bottom of the metal headband with less padding. Hence, this could feel somewhat uncomfortable for people with larger heads. Although the width of the headband is adjustable, there is nothing much to do for the height adjustment. Moreover, I noticed that the clamping force of the headset is nicely balanced.
Suppose you like to leave the headset to your neck when you take a break. The headband may feel tight around your neck, which is uncomfortable, especially if you have a thick neck. When not in use, I recommend that you remove them.
Microphone is good but not the best in comparison to other competitors
The microphone is retractable and flexible. It always stays in the same position when you pull it out. The mic is constantly on unless you switch it off with a button on the back that is simple to locate. The red LED will be easy to see when it’s muted. In comparison to other mics in the gaming headphone market, the sound is clearer and less nasally than the Void Pro Wireless.
Connect is solid
The wireless receiver is different than most receivers. It is a small, compact hub with a white LED light on the front. If the light is solid, the connection is good; if it blinks, the headset is either asleep or disconnected.
On the receiver, there’s a pairing button on the side. On the back, there are line-in and line-out ports. You can easily connect speakers with the hub and automatically switch between the headset or the speaker (only when the headset is switched off). On the other hand, connect any audio source with a 3.5-millimeter output with the hub to transmit audio to the headphones wirelessly.
Controls are located on the earcups
The headset has many controls, including a power button, a dial for chat mix to balance your voice and within a game volume, and an indicator for battery levels. On the other side is a mute mic, a volume dial from 0 to 100, an 8-pin mini b USB, and a micro USB.
The micro USB port is solely for charging and software updates. It does not work without a wireless receiver.
Moreover, you can plug in an 8-pin mini USB cable with a 3.5-millimeter jack to connect with other devices.
Good customization with support with the software
It has an easy plug-and-play setup process. The steps are mostly automated. You need to install the Engine 3 software on your computer. The software will automatically recognize the headset. You also need to download the firmware and additional drivers, which will make the headset work properly. You can test the microphone and adjust the Equalizer to your liking. There is a dynamic range compression in the Engine 3 desktop view, but I found it not very useful. The volume wheel allows you to change the sound level.
Average surround sound experience – stereo mode is good
The surround sound experience with DTS X isn’t very good on this headset. The soundstage is expanded, but you lose directional signals that are otherwise audible. Surround sound creates a bigger immersion of your audio environment than stereo, where you feel like everything is a little closer to you.
The stereo mode is quite effective, and this headset’s high-end detail is fantastic. Most gamers (like me) prefer a brighter sound signature for competitive gameplay because you can hear all the trouble and all the little things that make you aware of your surroundings and where things are coming from.
Impressive sound quality
The Arctic 7 is great for the mid-range, but the bass is weak. Some gamers prefer this in gameplay. The wireless signal is quite long-distance, with a distance of about six meters in between walls.
The connection is solid. There are no background noises or distortions, and the connection is clear. Hence, it’s quite nice if you like to listen to music podcasts while being mobile around your house.
Decent battery with 20 hours runtime
The battery goes for about 20 hours on a single full charge. It’s okay for gaming, but I wish the software showed how much battery life was left in percentage.
The good thing is that it charges with a micro USB, which is the same kind of charger that many other devices use. It has a power-saving functionality where it turns off automatically to save battery life. You have to turn it on again every time after your computer has been turned off.

Arctis 7 vs arctis pro
If budget is not a problem, then I would go for Arctis Pro
I have been using the Arctis 7 for gaming since it came out. I know the specs, and I am used to the sound quality. The Arctis Pro is making some big claims, so I decided to try it and write about it on my blog. So, I got an Arctis Pro white.
This gaming headset has strong plastic and metal construction. The strap is adjustable, so it should fit most people. The design and adjustment are very similar to the Steelseries Arctis 7 headset. This gaming headset seems to work well, and it is flexible. That being said, the arctis pro seems a bit tighter than the arctis7 for people with larger head sizes. I have a medium-sized head, and it was fairly comfortable with the strap adjusted.
This headphone has fabric pads on the ear cups. These pads should last longer than the leather-type material. You can even wash them and the headband strap too every now and then. The ear cups are fairly flexible with tilt for extra comfort. You can rotate the cups to rest on your shoulders when the headset rests around your neck.
The ear cups have the usual controls, including the mute mic, volume change, connections for mobile, and charging on the right side. On the left are a power button and a Bluetooth button.
One of the best features of this headset is that the batteries are replaceable. If you keep your headsets charged, you will have enough power for a long day of gaming. The headset has two batteries; you can use one battery and let the other charge. Batteries should give you around 20 hours of use (10 hours per battery).
The Arctis wireless headphones have good signal strength. I tested them by walking out of the room with the phone, and they kept the signal. The wireless range is about 12 meters or 40 feet. The headphone kept their signal through 2 walls and 1 door.
The Arctis Pro is much like the Arctis 7 but with a few extra features. The microphone is similar to the one on the previous model, hidden inside the headset. The mic quality isn’t as good as some of the other top-of-the-line headphones on the market, but it’s still pretty good. It has the same mic sound, which makes it easier to hear over game chat. The noise isolation is better than on the Steelseries Arctis 7; it doesn’t pick up as much background noise. And finally, the volume is higher than on the Arctis 7.
Latency was better when we tested it with software. However, it doesn’t make much of a difference to people who use either of the headphones.
The sound quality from both the SteelseriesArctis 7 and the Arctis Pro headsets is good. The Arctis Pro sounds better because the bass is richer, and it makes the sound output warmer. The highs are also noticeable, but they don’t sound very sharp. You can adjust how the sound sounds by using Equalizer to make it fit your preferences. The surround sound mode does not work for the arctis pro version like the arctis 7.
The Arctis Pro comes with some common cables, as well as an optical audio cable and a filter for the mic. These headphones are lightweight and weigh about 374 grams. If money is no object, I will choose the Arctis Pro. However, the Arctis 7 headset is still a great choice for gaming headphones if you are on a budget.
Arctis 5 vs 7
Arctis 5 is a wired headphone with an average built quality and good sound experience
The SteelSeries Arctis 5 vs 7 is not much different design-wise. They both have pretty cool features on each headphone. The Arctis 5 is a stylish headphone with a ski goggles band design like the Arctis7. Both headphones feature replaceable bands that you can purchase online easily with different styles.
The Artics 5 have RGB elements built into the ear cups. This means that they light up when you connect them to your computer with a USB cable.
The software for the 5 and the 7 is the same. You can change a lot of settings on both headphones with this software.
Most of the controls are on the left ear cup. The Artics 5 has a retractable microphone with a light on it. So, when you use the mute switch on the back, that will light up the red light clearly, which is nice.
The Arctis 5 has all of the standard controls, including the volume changer, the small USB port, and a charging port. The other ear cup has the power button and the chat mix. The hub of the Arctis 5 has a line in and line out port. You can connect your speakers or an audio source like your smartphone. You can only route your audio to the speaker if the headphones are turned off.
Comfort wise I found the Artis 5 to be slightly better than the Arctis 7 because they are not as tight on your head, and they are also lighter in weight.
In conclusion, steelseries arctis comparison of 5 vs 7, both headphones are similar in many aspects. The arctis 5 is better in terms of latency and has a better microphone. The Steelseries Arctis 7 provides a wireless connection while the arctis 5 are wired. However, the arctis 5 is a good headphone for gaming and listening to music. It has an impressive sound experience with cool RGB lighting. If you are on a budget, then the artic 5 is a suitable alternative to the arctis 7 headphones.
Logitech G Pro X gaming headset vs SteelSeries Arctis 7
Logictech g pro x is a worthy contender to the arctis 7
These headphones are not like other gaming headphones. While many other gaming headphones focus on design or RGB lighting (like the Arctis 5), premium design, impressive audio performance, and an excellent microphone are the cornerstone of the Logitech G Pro X.
The metal headband is covered with a soft material that feels good. The earcups are black with a silver circle in the middle that has the Logitech logo. The headset’s build looks high quality, and it has an eye-catching design that will catch your attention.
The headphones come with two types of ear pads, the leather ones, and the more breathable velour fabric ones. The velour fabric is better for longer gaming sessions because it lets your ears breathe. The boom microphone is detachable and sticks out of the right ear cup. You can take it off when you’re not using it, listening to music, or watching a movie.
The G Pro X headphone fit is snug but not too tight. Larger heads will have plenty of room in the ear cups. The headphone does not feel heavy.
The Logitech G hub software is the most exciting feature of the Pros X. You can use the Blue voice feature to make your voice sound clear and crisp. You can also customize other settings, like the sound Equalizer and de-esser. You can even download presets that other people have made. Plus, you can enable or customize DTS X 2.0 surround sound.
There are two versions of this headphone- a wireless one and one with a wire. You don’t have to worry about connectivity problems if you get the wired one. It plugs into Playstation Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices. The wireless version will last around 20 hours on battery and should charge in 2.5 hours.
The audio mix of the headset is great. The booming bass, accurate mids, and crisp highs make it a great choice for gaming or listening to music. The inline microphone is clear and easy to use. Still, you won’t be able to adjust the volume, so if you use it with a mobile phone, you need to adjust the volume from your phone settings. The G Pro x features 50 mm drivers that deliver well-balanced sound. They deliver huge concussive sounds without too much distortion at higher frequencies.
The Logitech g pro x is a professional-grade headset with great sound quality and an excellent microphone. It is a worthy competitor to the SteelSeries arctis 7. The Logitech g pro x gaming headset vs SteelSeries arctis 7 has a bulkier design, making it better for users with larger head sizes but harder to carry around.
The Arctis 7 is a viable competitor in the wireless headphone market. It offers many features lacking in other headphones, such as fantastic stereo drivers and decent battery life. However, it could use some improvements, such as increasing the size of the earcups and making the connection between headset and hub more automatic.
Despite these shortcomings, we believe that the Arctis 7 headphones are still one of the best wireless headsets on the market.
If you are looking for a great pair of headphones to take your gaming or audio experience to the next level, the Artcis 7 should be on your list.
